Knit n Purl

After the booties, i decided to embark on a new project! I am knitting a sweater! On fri, i down loaded the knitting instructions and free pattern from the Internet and ask darby to print out for me. Than i went to spotlight to but my yarn, needles and all other stuff that i need for my sweater. Went back home to try but unfortunately, i just couldn't get it right! :( so sad... think it's the needle that i bought was too big for the yarn.

Return to spotlight on sat again and this time, i decided not to act smart but follow exactly the brand n colour and size of the yarn n needles needed. Darby's back was stiff again n he was hungry so got to chop chop and can't really hang around too much. So exchanged the stuff i bought on fri, had lunch and got all the stuff home.

I spent the night knitting n unpicking and knitting n unpicking and still fail so bo bian, decided to go to bed. On sun, very buay gum guan, i tried again but this time, i compared the stitch pattern on the instruction book n it look different.. damn it! i just could not get past the 5th row before i destroyed everything and start again. I finally succeeded on the eleventh try and realised what went wrong at abt 11pm sun night. Wah lau.. didn't know that knit n purl could be so tough! Should have spent $40 at golden dragon n have a teacher coach me! But than, thinking back, i felt really accomplished and know that if i put my mind at something, nothing is impossible, even knitting! Hope to finish my sweater by end of this week! hee =D

Happy Mother's day!

I was reading Wendy's blog n saw this meaningful writeup so had decided to steal it (Opps)... hee hee..

For all the mothers in the world.. Happy Mother's Day!

Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom .

New Project

I was busy yesterday... Went for a pedicure (finally) at abt 1.30pm at roxy square. Jac did a good job but than it took abt 2hr 30 mins to complete. After that i drove to Vivo city to meet Teresa, my Uni housemate for coffee n catch up session. It was fun to exchange pregnancy tips cos she has a daughter, Cayla that is 2 years old now. Very cute baby.

In the evening, abt 6.30 pm, went to pick Kisane up and drove off to Golden Dragon in people's park center to take a look at Crochet stuff cos i wanted to start on my new project for my baby. Have not crochet for a long long time so dun know if i'll succeed. LoL... browsed around but the pattern books are all in Japanese so we decided to go to spotlight instead at Plaza Singapura. Managed to find a crochet magazine and also picked up my ball of cotton n some tool and had dinner at cafe cartel. The whold day was fun except that dinner tasted like Dog food. I had a really horrible honey baked ribs which was so disappointing. Reached home at abt 11 plus n was so excited to start but by than, i was too tired already.. hee hee =P
Oh lastly, the last picture with the booties, i bought it when i was 13 weeks pregnant. Saw them at Tampinese 1 n thought that it was so cute so decided to buy them home!

Kainan Michael Ong

That's what Sheila and I have (so far) decided to name our son. :D

I have liked the name Kainan for the longest time, it always sounded like a strong name to me. The origins of the name though are kinda funny though. It began all the way back in university days.

Perth being a boring place generally, most times are spent just being a couch potato at home watching home movies from Video Ezy. Sheila, on the other hand, prefers her Hong Kong drama serials. It was one of those visits to Perth's Chinatown, when we decided to rent a cartoon series called SlamDunk (which still happens to be one of my fav cartoons of all time). Anyway, the top basketball team was called Kainan and the name has been stuck in my head ever since. Sheila and I have often joked that our sons' names (we decided 3 last time! :P) would be... Kainan, Lucien and Kraven. In that age order.

Well, we have 4 plus months to confirm the name... Will see what inspires Sheila and me until the time comes!
