We headed to Nex during the weekend. They had a huge water play area for kids.. bb had so much fun getting WET!

Tristan goes to School!

I am one of those kiasu mom who can't wait for their son to go to school.. hee hee. Finally, today is the 1st day of school for him. We are doing it for a trial period of 2 weeks to see if he is fully ready. But between both of us, i am the more excited one.

We've got alot of support too from both po po n yi yi. Popo bought his frog school bag n yi yi bought us a 'big boy' water bottle and we are set for school! Thank you Po po n Yi yi!!

The 1st day was good. Brought him to school n stayed with him for a while. After he got warmed up with the teachers, i told him that i was leaving and quickly exited the classroom. Of course he protested and cried a little but as soon as they started the circle time with singing and dancing, he settled down, Phew! Throughout the day, he didn't cry at all but i must say the teachers played a big part by carrying n comforting him. :)

Bb loves water, I'll try to bring him for a swim once a week but if i can't, we'll have water play outside when it's a good day.

After going for mandarin class for half a year, bb can recognise his mandarin name 政耀 :P. Today, during snack time, when 老师 ask if he wants biscuit, he said 要, 谢谢.
There are simple moments like this where i feel a sense of pride seeing him
progressing so well. Good job son!

Most of the time i jus wouldn't know if bb is taking in anything i say to him until one day when he ask for shui (water) and when i handed his water bottle to him, i hear the golden words: "谢谢"... It just brighten my day. Although right now, he doesn't know the meaning of the words but it's really nice to know that he's copying the correct stuff instead of the occasional or accidental Sh** that i blurt out, forgetting he's there. opps... ha ha ha

Cheeky Monkey

Yi yi bought us a new set of PJs for CNY.. Thanks Yi...

My cheeky monkey threw a wooden block at his cousin today and she got a big bak lu ku plus a cut on her forehead.. Haiz :( I was worried and felt very sorry for her. But at the same time, i felt very helpless as this is the stage where he doesn't really understand anything even if i discipline him..
So in the end, all i could do was to say countless sorrys to her and her parents.. :(

What really upset me was not so much the injury but instead hearing someone say:" This boy.. haiz.. is terrible, someone should really disciplined him.. he's really terrible!!" My heart really ache hearing someone say my son is terrible.. I wanted to ask him.. how could he be terrible when he's only 16 mths old? It was an accident. I'm not trying to find excuse for what my son did but at this age, playing together could cause accident right? I guess, as a mother, hearing someone say my child is terrible, really hurt.. So for me now is to watch my son well and make sure accidents like this does not happen again..

Sara mei mei turns 9 mths today!! Happy 9 mths mei!!!!

Mei mei is progressing very well. She can now crawl n scoot around on her bum bum and her special ability.... STOP!- when u count while she's jumping and u say STOP!, she'll stop jumping!!! she has learned this at kampong play school!
Well done Mei!! She's such a Darling...

We are BACK!!!

It's been so long since i updated my blog n also visiting other blogs! Today, since my bb is with the inlaw's, i thought i'll do some updating..

BUT.... i've changed to an iphone in sept last year n some of my bb's photos is in my sony ericsson. With the sim card being so small now, i need a card reader and i couldn't find mine... haiz...

So will update photos later when i get organised and get hold of a card reader.

These past 9 mths have been really fun for me. My mom n sis moved to their new place in april last year and since than, i've been taking care of bb alone with the occasional help from my mother in law, over the weekends and some weekdays. He's currently taking music n movement classes at Kampong play school and Chinese classes at Bibinogs which i must say, he has learned alot.

With Janet's recommendation (& also thank you for the CDs, toys and books!), bb started watching my baby can read when he was 10 mths old. I highly recommend it! bb picked up alot of words just by watching them every day. His favorite words now are
1. daddy, po po, mei mei, yi yi, gong gong, ye ye, nei nei, ma ma
2. mow (cat), yu (fish), shu (tree), hua (flower), shui (water), deng (light), su (book), su (comb)
3. ball (anything that's round), there (pointing to where he wans to go), bow, bus, juice, banana, apple, camel, bird, pig, bear, chick, rabbit, sheep, goat, monkey, mouse, hair, clip, pegs (cloths pegs), keep (keeping his toys)
4. car, pants, shoes, keys, boa boa(pls carry me), hole man (his favorite soft toy), play, sit, star, milk, shake, beat (although i try to discourage), bei bei (piggy back), kick, hair, tap

Those words that he can't say them, he'll sign them to me or he'll make the sound that the animal makes:
lion (a deep growl), elephant (swinging arm, mimicking the elephant's trunk), dog (patting his hand on my knee, the correct version is suppose to pat his own knee), butterfly (flapping his arms), cow (moo), duck (action like duck quacking).
He understands simple instructions now which really made my life easier. Most of the words he understands in both mandarin n English but when it comes to expressing, it's usually in English cos i think it's easier to pronounce n pick up.

Tristan started walking with he turned 1. There were times i think it's such a blessing because i can get a lot more done at home but because he's such a curious n active child, i jus wished that he's still a baby n needs to be carried around. :)

We Are 6 mths old today!

We've come so far.. He's 6 mths old today! My baby started solids last week. Every meal time is so hilarious. He gets food all over him! The cereal seems to end up everywhere except his mouth. i think we need to send po po for some aiming classes! LOL... Not her fault actually.. my baby is super naughty and will move his head from left to right, looking up and down trying to avoid the spoon.

See... It's every where.. except IN his mouth!

With Janet yi yi's recommendation, we started with Friso cream cereal, which smells good. On the 1st day, we added breast milk with it, it ended up being super sweet! Subsequently, we jus add water n it tasted better. So far, he has tasted mango ( jus a little), potatoes and pork rib porridge. Now po po makes him super yummy porridge which I think he prefers (with lots of TLC) cos i was also salivating jus looking at it! Today's menu.. fish porridge with ikan bilis powder and spinach.. sounds good right?

Super bad hair day.. as we try again for our 2nd meal.. this time, more went into his mouth!

I'm looking forward to his swimming trial lesson this coming sat. We are all set...Bought his thermal swim suit, sun block- SPF 50+ and yi yi also bought him a giant green towel ( the wrap kind with hood)!Yesterday at Ikea.. Screaming away... ahem.. testing our voice.. n yes.. most of ikea can HEAR us!

Home Alone- Mission Accomplished!

If you remember i was abit nervous abt being Home alone with my son while po po is on the cruise. Well, it turned out ok! Actually more than ok. I managed to sleep while he sleeps and do my house work, chop chop within 1 hour of his nap. With Yee yee's help, i even prepared dinner for the 5 of us that's left at home! Day 1 dinner was good: Roast duck ( bought by yee yee) and vegie soup! The expensive Duck ($32 from marine parade mkt) was good. On Day 2, we had Wanton+ Char siew noodle. but on day 3, we all ate out and po po came back.

During these 3.5 days, i manage to bond better with my baby son. It felt special.. I dun really know how to describe that feeling... but i know tat i love him more. Am actually looking forward to caring for him full time starting May, when baby Sara is out! Can't wait for her to come out too!

Home Alone 0.5

Today, i had a 'preview' of what to expect when my mom moves out in may... being home n almost alone (today is Sunday n darby is around) cos my mom went on the cruise n will only be back on wed evening. It was both exciting and at the same time.. scary.

Usually on a typical day, with my mom around, my baby will wake up at abt 7.30am. i'll feed him milk and bring him over to my mom's place at 8am. Than i'll express milk, bring the required bottles of milk over, play with him for a while and will go sleep by 10am. I'll wake up at abt 2- 2.30pm, express milk, have my lunch, rush to do my housework and have a bath. I'll try to finish everything by 5pm so that i can bring my baby back as my mom needs to cook dinner. From 5pm onwards, it's my 'shift duty' to take care of him. LOL

I'll bring him back n we'll read or watch educational dvds or that disney for kids channel till abt 6.30pm before we go for our walk. By 6.30, if i dun get out of the house, Tristan will usually fuss n get really difficult. We'll walk around Bedok Central till abt 8pm than will go back for dinner. At 9pm i'll put my baby to sleep and usually by 10- 10.30pm, after expressing milk, i'll have some free time... my R&R time!

Today, my schedule jus went haywire. for example, i tried to put him on the Jumperoo, turn on the Chinese song DVD for kid for him to watch while i do house work but that failed badly. He cried non stop, i felt so bad so had to stop everything n carry him. Finally manage to put him to sleep to continue but he only slept for 20 mins n woke up.. house work not finished yet! haiz.. Had to ask darby to help.

I need to plan my time better tomorrow. Dun wan a repeat again cos after these few days of 'trial', i'll have to manage the actual thing in May when my mom moves out. Keeping my fingers crossed :P

3 Cheers for Yee yee!

Yee Yee bought a Fisherprice rainforest Jumperoo for my baby and Sara on sat. And ever since than, we are having a jumping good time everyday!

At 1st he was not used to it and couldn't sit in it for long but after a few days of trying, he realised that he could do his favorite new skill--- JUMP.. JUMP.. JUMP! So now he is training his little legs by jumping up n down while Mummy n popo take a break from carrying him! Thrumbs up for yee yee! and a must buy for all tired Mummies amd grandmas!

My Baby has been drinking more during each feed now and he's also sleep longer on most nights. Now he goes to bed by 10pm and only wakes up at 1pm and 4pm for his feed. :P Hopefully, he'll be able to sleep thru soon!

Today, The Chuas, the Wangs and the Ongs had a very nice Tim sum branch at Tong Lok Paramount hotel. The food is really yummy man! As usual, we had our catch up + gossiping session! Although there were 31/2 under 18s there, we still managed to tune to the Ahem.....P.O.R.N Channel!... all thanks to Steven Yi Jong!!! LOL

After the Branch, we went to parkway n Darby bought a Lime Green Bumbo chair for Tristan n Sara! we were so excited we went home to immediately try it n he likes it. Thank You daddy, now we are ready for our 1st meal of solids in 11/2 mths time! hee hee

*Oh, I need to especially mention that it was Steven Yi Jong who recommended us the Bumbo Chair ;P Thank you Yi Jong!!!!

Preserving these precious moments!

I've been Motivated to frame up my baby's photos so started this new project decorating the frames. I wanted to capture n keep these precious moments before my baby grow up cos he's growing up too fast!

Bought the frame from Ikea, paper from Tampinese 1, stars from Spot light and took 2 nights to finish up this photo frame.
After that, i got so addicted and did another frame for me and Darby.. Frame also from Ikea, paper from Tampinese 1, Flowers from cherry blossom CNY deco (but i modified it a little).

Happy Tiger Year , Baby!

Chinese New year is usually a busy time for us but this year, it's quieter than usual. We only went to my grandma's grave on the 1st day and than my aunty's house on the 2nd day. I miss the noisy and busy days where we were ferried around visiting relatives. My cousins and i would be either playing in the home of relative or along the corridor. Gone were those day, as many of my cousins are overseas. We Miss You, those in Perth and Sydney! :(

Surprises Everyday!

It has reach a time where my son is growing up so fast that there are new surprises everyday. Now that rolling over is a breeze for him, he's trying to crawl like an inch worm! ( lifting his bum high up n push with his legs) super cute but it also mean that i need to keep an eye on him as this lifting n pushing movement meant that he can travel pretty fast n before i know it, he has already crawl to the other end of the bed.

He has also realised that by screaming, he can get our attention and what he wants. So he screams when he is happy, n definitely screams when he's angry or upset.

Tristan is also a very moody fellow. He can be happy and giggling, totally friendly one minute and the next minute, he can be the opposite- pulling my hair, face red, fist clenched, arched back n very upset.

Rolling Over n over n over...

Now that my baby has learnt to roll over, he's really maximising his skills. Trying to roll over when i'm changing his diapers, rolling over while drinking his milk, even waking up in the middle of the night to roll over and have a conversation with me. Seeing him putting his abilities to good use whenever there is an opportunity is really amusing. He's getting stronger and heavier every day, especially when he's throwing a fit because he's tired really challenges my arms, legs and body power. LOL

Stumbled upon this song while searching for a lullaby for my baby.. A very beautiful song.. Heard it n cried..

This is her story:
This song came straight from my heart one night as I prayed over my sleeping daughter. As I stared at her beautiful frame I was just moved to tears by what an amazing gift from God she really is. She was born with neurofibromatosis and is considered legally blind. Some would have advised while she was still in the womb that I should have had an abortion because she isn't "perfect". That would have been a tragedy. As this song has been passed around it has been used in many different ways- pro-life rallies, baby dedications, Mother's Day events, and as a simple lullaby sung over a sleeping baby.
